Negotiating the distribution of obligations with sanctions among autonomous agents

Guido Boella, Leendert van der Torre

In this paper we consider the problem of the distribution of obligations directed to collective entities like groups and organizations among the individuals belonging to those entities. We model the distribution of obligations among a set of agents as a negotiation process among the agents. We distinguish different types of collective obligations according to whether the responsibility of a violation during the negotiation or the execution of the task is attributed to the individual agents or to the whole set of agents.
